Pieces of quiet refinement

Eight signature silhouettes — each available in finished form or recreated in the fabric, scale, and proportion of your choosing.

Chapter III — The Hand

One maker.
One piece at a time.

Every Sempiternal headboard begins as a hand-drawn pattern on kraft paper — and ends in the quiet ceremony of the final stitch. From the kiln-dried hardwood frame to the last covered button, it is the work of a single pair of hands.

The Bespoke Process

For the bedroom you have spent years imagining — a headboard made wholly to your own measure.

A serene neutral-toned bedroom, softly lit, with a tall upholstered headboard.
A note from the atelier

Drawn from conversation,
built by hand.

Bespoke pieces begin with a quiet conversation — about the room, the bed, the fabric you've been carrying in your imagination. From there, sketches are drawn, dimensions confirmed, and a single, irreplaceable headboard is made.

We make four to six bespoke pieces a month. The wait is gentle — typically eight to ten weeks — and very much worth it.

The Process

Four chapters, from idea to home

i.

Conversation

We begin with an unhurried exchange — your room, your bed, your aesthetic, the feeling you'd like to come home to.

ii.

Sketch

A hand-drawn rendering, shared by post or email. We refine silhouette, scale, and proportion together.

iii.

Fabric

Swatches arrive at your door. We narrow the field to one — the cloth that will become your headboard.

iv.

Atelier

Eight to ten weeks of quiet work, then white-glove delivery. The piece is yours, made for the long arc of a life.

How an Order is Made

The way of working

A bespoke piece is a small, considered partnership. Here is how it unfolds, end to end — written plainly, so there are no surprises.

i.

Free of chargeThe Conversation

We exchange notes about your room, your bed, and the feeling you'd like to come home to. There is no fee for this stage, and no obligation to continue.

ii.

Free of chargeThe Quote

Once the design is settled, you receive a written quote — the exact piece, fabric, dimensions, lead time, and price, all in one place.

iii.

The moment of commitmentThe Agreement

When the quote feels right, I send a simple order agreement to sign electronically. It captures everything we have agreed upon, and outlines the atelier terms in full.

iv.

50% of the totalThe Deposit

A 50% deposit confirms your order and begins production. A 48-hour grace period applies; after that, the deposit is held against materials already cut and frames already begun.

v.

Eight to ten weeksThe Atelier

Quiet, focused work. Photographs along the way, by request — many clients enjoy seeing the frame, the padding, the first stitch.

vi.

50% before deliveryThe Balance

The remaining balance is paid before the piece leaves the workroom. Bank transfer is gently preferred for the balance, though card is welcome.

vii.

By appointmentWhite-Glove Delivery

The piece is delivered to your home, inspected together, and signed for. Should anything be amiss in transit, I make it right at no cost.

viii.

One full yearThe Guarantee

Every piece is guaranteed against defects of materials and workmanship for a full year from delivery — repaired or replaced at no cost.

A bespoke piece is non-returnable once production begins, except in the case of defect or damage in transit — which I always make right. This is the standard for handmade furniture, and it is what allows me to make pieces of this caliber at a price that respects both of us.

The full Atelier Terms are written out plainly, should you wish to read them.

A few gentle questions. I read each one personally and reply within two business days.

Thank you — your note has arrived.

I'll write back personally within two business days, often with a few questions and a sketch or two. From there: a written quote, a simple agreement to sign, and the work begins. In the meantime, may your evening be a quiet one.

Chapter V

The Fabric Library

An ever-growing collection of cloths from small mills and hand-loom workshops. Swatches sent freely on request.

Send for swatches. Hold them in your room, by your light, against the linen on your bed. There is no other way to choose.

Finished pieces, in their rooms — a record of the work, and of the homes that have welcomed it.

Chapter VII — A note from the maker

I make headboards by hand,
and I have for as long as I can remember.

Sempiternal Home is not a brand, exactly. It's a small atelier — one woman, one worktable, one bolt of linen at a time.

I came to upholstery the long way: a grandmother who kept her own linens pressed and folded, an apprenticeship that began in a friend's workshop and never quite ended. Today I make four to six headboards a month, no more. Each one passes through a single pair of hands — mine — from the first sketch to the last covered button.

What I want to make is the kind of piece that gets handed down. A bed that becomes the centre of the room, and stays there. A headboard you'll still love when the rest of the bedroom has been redone twice over. Something sempiternal — which is the loveliest old word for lasting.

What I Care About

Three quiet commitments

Made by hand

No factory floor, no production line. Each piece is shaped, stitched, and tufted by a single pair of hands.

Made to last

Hardwood frames, eight-way hand-tied padding, couture-grade cloth. The kind of build that outlasts the trends.

Made for you

Every piece — even the ones from the collection — is finished to your specific room, your fabric, your bed.

I would rather make a few pieces, slowly and well, than many pieces, quickly and forgettably.

Chapter IX

Atelier Terms

The plainly-written conditions of an order — written by the maker, not a lawyer. Should anything raise a question, please write to me at atelier@sempiternalhome.com.

i.The bespoke nature of the work

Every Sempiternal headboard is made to order, by a single pair of hands. Frames are built to your particular dimensions; fabric is cut to your particular proportions. Once production begins, a piece cannot be returned, exchanged, or resold as new — it is yours alone, made for your room.

For this reason, custom-made pieces are exempt from standard consumer-goods return windows under U.S. law, and the terms below replace any general-merchant return policy you may be accustomed to.

ii.The order agreement

Before any work begins, you receive a written order agreement detailing the piece, fabric, dimensions, price, lead time, and these terms in full. The agreement is signed electronically by both of us. Production does not begin until both the signed agreement and the deposit are received.

iii.Deposits and balance

A deposit of fifty percent of the total price confirms your order and reserves your place in the workroom queue. The remaining fifty percent is due before the piece leaves the workroom for delivery.

A 48-hour grace period applies to the deposit: should you wish to cancel within that window, the deposit is refunded in full, no questions asked. After 48 hours, the deposit is considered non-refundable, as it is at this point that materials are ordered, frames are begun, and time is committed to your piece.

iv.Payment methods

Payment is processed through Helcim, a trusted merchant partner. Major credit cards, debit cards, ACH bank transfers, and wire transfers are all welcomed. For balances above $2,500, bank transfer is gently requested — it is gentler on the atelier's small operating costs, and we share a portion of the savings as a small courtesy discount.

All charges appear on your statement as SEMPITERNAL HOME LLC. Should you not recognize a charge, please write to me before contacting your bank — these things are almost always a small misunderstanding, and resolved by a single email.

v.Lead times

Lead times are typically eight to ten weeks, and are stated plainly in your order agreement. I do my best to meet every promised date. Should an unforeseen delay arise — a delayed shipment of fabric, an unexpected closure at the mill — I write to you immediately with an honest revised date.

vi.Cancellations and changes

Within the 48-hour grace period, an order may be cancelled in full and the deposit refunded. After the grace period, an order may not be cancelled, though small changes to fabric or proportion may sometimes be accommodated if production has not yet begun. Please write as early as possible — I am almost always able to find a way.

vii.Defects, damage, and the guarantee

Every piece is guaranteed against defects of materials and workmanship for one full year from the date of delivery. Should a defect arise within that time, write to me — I repair or replace at no cost to you, including return shipping where required.

Should your piece arrive damaged in transit, please write within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs. Transit damage is also corrected at no cost — repaired in your home where possible, replaced where not.

viii.Returns

Bespoke pieces are not returnable for change of mind, change of décor, evolved taste, or unforeseen room redesign. They are returnable only in the case of defect or transit damage, addressed under the section above.

This is the gentle bargain of bespoke work: in exchange for a piece made entirely for you, in your fabric and to your dimensions, you accept the piece as yours. It is the standard of the craft, and what allows small ateliers like this one to exist at all.

ix.Privacy

Your personal information — name, address, telephone, email, and the details of your order — is held in the strictest confidence. It is used solely to fulfill your order and to correspond with you. It is never sold, shared, or used for any purpose beyond your order.

x.If a disagreement should arise

My hope is always that any concern is resolved personally, by writing to one another. In the unlikely event of an unresolved dispute, both parties agree to first attempt resolution by direct correspondence within thirty days, before pursuing any formal action. Any unresolved matter shall be subject to the laws of the State of Utah, where the atelier is based.

xi.These terms

These terms apply to all orders placed with Sempiternal Home LLC. They may be revised from time to time; the version in effect at the moment you sign your order agreement is the version that governs your order. The agreement you sign will include the current terms in full as an attachment, so there is never any ambiguity about which version applies.

Read in full, then signed by both of us — these terms are simply the formal language of a quiet, considered way of working.
